Pest Bird Removal and Exclusion

We have experienced bird exclusion specialists on staff to help solve any bird problem, big or small. We provide humane and effective bird control solutions. Solutions may include trapping, installation of netting, bird spike or other deterrents.

Rock Dove (Columba livia)

These birds adapt very well to the urban environment - the design of many buildings provides great shelter for nesting and roosting, there is always adequate water and food nearby. Pigeons are more than just a nuisance - they are a serious health threat as they carry and transmit a wide range of diseases, parasites and pathogens. Some examples include: encephalitis, histoplasmosis, Newcastle disease, cryptococcosis, toxoplasmosis, pseudo-tuberculosis, salmonella and they can carry lice, fleas, ticks and mites. Their droppings also create a variety of problems - the droppings can clog air intakes, deface signs and bulding substrates, contaminate food, and create slip and fall hazards for staff, clients and the public.

Pigeons have 2 broods per year with 2 to 8 eggs per clutch. The eggs are typically laid in spring and summer and the young leave the nest in 3 to 4 weeks after hatching. Pigeons are not migratory and they stay around all year, and if they like your building, they will not leave unless forced!

We can keep pigeons off your building using a variety of exclusion methods including the installation of bird netting, bird spike, or low voltage shock track systems (don't worry - it doesn't hurt the pigoens).

Seagull (Larus sp.)

Seagulls are scavengers often picking through garbage and eating our leftovers. Seagulls in some areas have been found to carry E.coli but the largest threat from seagulls is from their droppings.

Droppings and nesting material can build up and clog roof drains causing water back ups potentially leading to expensive damage to roofing membranes and areas below that get water damage. Excrement can also build up in large quantities leading to damage to the structure from the uric acid. Bird droppings can also dry out over the summer and become airborne particulate matter getting into air intakes on the rooftops.

Seagulls are protected under the federal Migratory Bird Act. This means that you can't remove eggs or nests without a permit. So what can you do? Exclude them from landing, roosting, and nesting. And if necessary we can obtain the necessary permits to take other measures.

Other Pest Birds

Sparrows, starlings, swallows and some woodpecker species can also be significant pests.  We have experience with all of them and can help you move these pest birds along as well.
